Conducted by Hervé Niquet, this concert celebrates a popular, festive, and musical Paris—the Paris of legendary variety shows and tunes hummed by generations. Leading the Orchestre de chambre de Paris, joined by the Concert Spirituel choir and clarinetist Florent Pujuila, he has crafted a generous evening full of surprises, where musical excellence meets the spirit of celebration.
Bourvil, Charles Trenet, Maurice Chevalier, and Francis Lopez: the great figures of chanson and operetta regain all their vitality here through brilliant, colorful orchestrations. The program also features the tender and whimsical world of The White Horse Inn, as well as a jubilant rarity: Darius Milhaud’s Barba Garibo, a work inspired by the folklore of Menton, composed for choir and orchestra.
Through this eclectic and joyful program, Hervé Niquet also shares a personal vision: the Paris of the 1960s and 1970s, a time when theaters embraced all genres, and classical music, popular song, and entertainment freely engaged in dialogue.
A lively, warm, and virtuosic evening, brought to life by artists who take as much pleasure in performing this music as the audience does in hearing it.
