Requiem Mass in D minor (KV 626)

Conductor Orchestra Direction Mozart Requiem Versailles

Undoubtedly, a work has never left behind such a profound disturbance, heightened by nearly three centuries of legends. The circumstances of the composition of the with intermission with intermission “Requiem” are not lacking in romantic mysteries: in July 1791, Mozart, exhausted by work and concerns, both moral and financial, put the finishing touches to “The Magic Flute” when he receives a visit from a secret messenger. Today we know that it was the intendant of Count Walsegg, who, a widower and music lover, wanted to obtain a mass of the dead in memory of his wife.

The ultimate masterpiece!

What is genius? Perhaps to write, in a single summer, three symphonies that will mark the history of music and will be played tirelessly long after their composition in 1788... First opus of this dazzling trio, the Symphony No. 39 by Mozart alternates recklessness and gravity, and we encounter, like a vigorous spectrum, some of the motives of Don Giovanni composed shortly before. Three years later, in 1791, Mozart began working on a major work, the now mythical Requiem - that he will not be able to complete and which will become, after his death, an inexhaustible object of speculation and legends... It is this ultimate Mozart but at the height of his creative power that Hervé Niquet, Le Concert Spirituel and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris celebrate, with two very lively anthological works.
