A true Baroque gem by Henry Purcell, with its plot full of twists and colorful characters, King Arthur has enjoyed considerable success since its premiere in 1690. But here it is in a new light: without cutting a single note of music or word of text, the infernal trio of Niquet, Shirley & Dino set out to interpret this bizarre English tale in their own way, where knights and monks go straight from the delights of the table to the shivers of the cold! The music is brilliantly served by Hervé Niquet’s ensembles, one of the masters of this repertoire at the helm of Le Concert Spirituel. As for the rest, bring along those who never go to the opera, both adults and children: they won’t miss a crumb of this biting and thrilling evening that has delighted audiences every time it’s been performed, winning them over forever!
