Hervé Niquet is bringing out a major and unknown work by Charpentier, with this mass, which is both the longest and most beautiful of the great composer. Charpentier's inspiration is at its highest level. Michel Chapuis, on the organ of the abbey of Saint Michel en Thiérache, joins Le Concert Spirituel for improvisations punctuating the vocal parts, in accordance with the wishes of Charpentier, in the great tradition of the century of Louis XIV.
